Weigh-Tronix engaged us to redesign the interface and remote controls for its Dillon line of industrial scales, aiming for a solution that was more usable, ergonomic and intuitive. Collaborating closely with industrial designers, we developed two remote-control concepts that significantly enhanced usability in demanding environments.

New design of Dillon's industrial scale remote user interface enables operation in work glovesuser interface graphics

Key design improvements included:

  • Ergonomic form factor optimized for use while wearing work gloves, larger physical buttons with press-on feedback (tactile dome switches)
  • Intuitive GUI – color-coded interface elements grouped and sized by primary/secondary functionality placed in logic proximity for faster, more intuitive operation
  • Durable substrate materials with embossed, pressure-sensitive buttons for long-term performance and tactile feedback

The redesign balanced function, durability, and clarity—key factors in industrial settings where quick, error-free operation is critical.

My work included:
  • Collecting requirements, defining use scenarios to startegize and document design rational
  • Interface design iterations and reviews, making physical prototypes
  • Interface finał design files with production specs
