Health finances on mobile
Health insurance plans can be complex, with unique rules, limitations, and benefits unlike other types of insurance. One major challenge for members was understanding and effectively using their health plan benefits.
Process: Through cumulative learning, extensive user research, and multiple rounds of user-tested solutions, we iterated from wireframes to prototypes to create a straightforward solution. This approach simplified the understanding of the three phases of health plan balances—deductible (member pays), coinsurance (member and plan share costs), and full coverage (plan pays in full). The solution also clarified plan benefits, savings accounts, claims, and more. Deductible and out-of-pocket expenses were visualized using color-coded bar graphs, making it easier for users to track their expenses and see cumulative changes over time.
Partnership with Further Health Banking: Collaborating with Further Health Banking, I developed a streamlined experience that allowed users to access health savings accounts such as FSA, HSA, and HRA. Users could view account transaction ledgers with options to manage accounts seamlessly. Single Sign-On (SSO) functionality enabled smooth transitions into Further’s application, giving users a cohesive experience in managing their health finances.
